Suno v6

Overview

Suno v6 is a new generation of AI music models released on September 9, 2026. Instead of replacing v5.5 with one model, Suno now offers three variants: v6 for precise, polished results; v6-wild for more experimental generations; and v6-mini for faster ideation across every plan.

The release changes more than output quality. v6 can interpret natural-language edits, combine multiple source songs or media in one request, and create from text, audio, images, and video. Suno has also retired every pre-v6 model for new generation, so this is a mandatory platform transition rather than an optional model upgrade.

What's New

Three models for different creative goals

The flagship v6 model prioritizes control, reliability, and polished results across genres. v6-wild deliberately produces less predictable, more varied outputs for creators looking for unexpected directions. Both are available to Pro and Premier subscribers.

v6-mini is the lighter, faster option and is available on every plan, including Free. It is intended for quick ideas and higher-volume exploration before committing credits or time to a more deliberate generation.

All three variants support songs up to eight minutes per generation. Duration is therefore consistent across the family rather than a reason to choose one model over another.

Natural-language editing without rebuilding the song

v6 can change a section, lyric, vocal treatment, or arrangement instruction while preserving the rest of an existing song. Suno specifically demonstrates replacing one lyric or changing a chorus without regenerating the entire track.

This is the most practical workflow improvement for creators who already like most of a result. It reduces the risk that fixing one detail also changes the vocal identity, instrumentation, structure, or mix that had already been approved.

Multi-source and multimodal creation

One request can reference multiple Suno songs, playlists, audio uploads, images, and video. Creators can ask v6 to combine vocals from one source, drums from another, and new lyrics or stylistic direction in a single workflow.

The model can also sample a moment, isolate an element, and build a beat around it without requiring the creator to select separate tools first. In Simple Mode, v6 can infer whether a request calls for operations such as Cover, Remix, or Extend.

More control over exploration and generation effort

The Variety slider changes how aggressively v6 adjusts style prompts. Setting it to zero is the safer choice when exact style tags matter; higher settings are better suited to exploration.

Max Mode can spend more credits on difficult generations, including songs longer than two minutes, close covers, style transfers, and tracks that need consistent vocals or style throughout. Suno positions standard mode as sufficient for shorter ideas, so Max Mode should be tested rather than enabled by default.

Compared With v5.5

Suno v5.5 focused on personalization through Voices, Custom Models, and My Taste. Version 6 keeps those workflows but replaces their generation foundation and adds a three-model selection strategy plus more direct editing and multimodal control.

Standard v6 generation does not cost more than the previous model: Suno says one generation still produces two songs for a total of 10 credits. Prompts containing many images or videos can cost more, while Max Mode intentionally spends additional credits.

Availability & Pricing

v6-mini is included on the Free plan. The live pricing page lists 50 credits per day for Free users, a shared generation queue, and no monthly song-download allowance. Free outputs do not include commercial rights.

Pro includes v6 and v6-wild, 2,500 credits per month, commercial rights, advanced editing, and 20 song downloads per month. Premier includes the same advanced models, 10,000 credits per month, Suno Studio, and 60 song downloads per month. Suno currently displays annual-billing equivalents of $8 per month for Pro and $24 per month for Premier; monthly checkout pricing should be verified before purchase.

Download allowances are separate from generation credits. Suno says songs downloaded while subscribed to a paid plan retain commercial-use rights, while free trial downloads are for personal use. Premier users working in Suno Studio are not subject to the normal download limit.

Migration Notes

All models released before v6 have been retired from new generation. Existing songs remain in user libraries and can still be played, shared, remastered, and covered, but any new iteration uses a v6-family model.

Existing Custom Models are automatically upgraded to use v6. Tracks created with earlier Custom Models remain available and unchanged. Teams that relied on a specific older-model sound should archive representative outputs and run regression prompts against v6 and v6-wild because the old generator cannot serve as a live fallback.

Who Should Upgrade / Who Should Wait

Use v6 or begin evaluating it now if:

• You need to correct one lyric, section, or arrangement detail without rebuilding an otherwise approved song.
• You combine reference tracks, uploads, images, or video in the same creative brief.
• You want a predictable flagship model for final production and a separate experimental model for ideation.
• Your Custom Models or ongoing projects must continue generating after the retirement of v5.5.

Use v6-mini or delay a paid-plan change if:

• You are exploring ideas and do not yet need the flagship or experimental paid models.
• You need to measure output consistency, credit consumption, and download requirements before changing a team workflow.
• You depend on a specific v5.5 sound and have not tested how v6 handles the same prompts and source material.
• You need independently verified quality comparisons rather than Suno's vendor-published claims.

Limitations

• Suno describes v6 as faster and higher quality, but the launch materials do not publish reproducible audio-quality benchmarks or latency measurements.
• Pre-v6 models cannot be selected for new generations, so users cannot maintain a live production fallback on v5.5.
• Multimodal prompts with many images or videos may use more credits, and Suno does not publish a simple fixed cost for every combination.
• Max Mode uses additional credits, making per-song cost dependent on workflow choices.
• Output consistency still needs project-specific testing, especially for recurring voices, branded styles, covers, and long songs.
